Regulatory Disclosures
Last updated: July 30, 2026
MyTradePilot™ publishes systematic research and education. This page explains — in plain English — what we are, what we are not, and how live trading works on the platform.
MyTradePilot is not a Registered Investment Adviser (RIA), not a Broker-Dealer, and not a Financial Planner.
We publish systematic research and education. We do not manage your money, custody your assets, or route trades on your behalf without your explicit, per-order confirmation.
1. What MyTradePilot is
MyTradePilot is an educational trading simulator and systematic research platform. We publish scores, scans, backtests, agent output, written lessons, and paper-traded model signals for a general audience. Every user receives the same research at the same time — the platform does not know your net worth, tax status, risk tolerance, or investment objectives, and it does not tailor output to them.
2. What MyTradePilot is not
- Not a Registered Investment Adviser (SEC or state).
- Not a Broker-Dealer or FINRA member.
- Not a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) or fiduciary of any user.
- Not a hedge fund, prop firm, or commodity trading advisor.
- Not a custodian — we never hold your cash or securities.
3. Research, not advice
Everything MyTradePilot publishes — including scores, "A+" setups, agent votes, backtest results, opportunity lists, alerts, AI theses, and course material — is impersonal, non-individualized research distributed to all subscribers. It is not, and is not intended to be, personalized investment advice or a recommendation to buy or sell any security. You must make your own decisions or consult a licensed adviser before acting on anything you see here.
4. How live trading works
Live trading is opt-in, signals-only, and manually confirmed. Specifically:
- Automated execution defaults to paper trading only.
- Live orders require you to (a) connect your own brokerage account (Alpaca), (b) complete the live-trading attestation, (c) arm the kill switch, and (d) confirm each order.
- MyTradePilot never has custody of your funds. Your broker holds your account under your name.
- You can revoke live trading at any time from Risk Settings; doing so disables live routing immediately.
5. Publisher's exclusion (Lowe v. SEC)
MyTradePilot operates as a bona fide financial publisher: our research is impersonal, of general and regular circulation, and not tailored to any individual's financial situation. This posture is consistent with the "publisher's exclusion" recognized under U.S. securities law (see Lowe v. SEC, 472 U.S. 181 (1985)). We do not solicit discretionary management authority and do not accept custody.
6. No performance guarantee
Backtests, walk-forward results, paper-trading fills, and any live signal track record are hypothetical or historical and do not guarantee future returns. Real trading involves slippage, commissions, halts, gaps, tax friction, and human error that models cannot fully capture. Past performance — simulated or actual — is not indicative of future results.
7. Third-party data & execution
Market data, fundamentals, news, and broker connectivity are provided by third parties including Alpaca and Finnhub. MyTradePilot is not responsible for data errors, feed outages, rejected orders, or losses caused by third-party systems. Your brokerage relationship (including custody, margin, and dispute resolution) is with your broker, not with MyTradePilot.
8. Instructor credentials & regulatory history
Joey Bess holds the AAMS® (Accredited Asset Management Specialist℠) designation and spent nearly two decades in the wealth-management industry as a credentialed advisor and asset manager. After nearly two decades in wealth management, Joey stepped away from registered rep work to build research-driven trading systems and investor education. Historical advisory work was performed at prior firms under those firms' licenses; MyTradePilot itself is not a registered advisory firm and no MyTradePilot content should be construed as continuing that advisory relationship.
Regulatory disclosure: Joey has a public FINRA BrokerCheck disclosure from 2016 related to the marking of certain trades as unsolicited that were subsequently deemed solicited — a supervisory/marking matter, not a matter involving client harm, fraud, or misappropriation. The disclosure is publicly available on FINRA BrokerCheck. We disclose it here in the interest of transparency.
9. Jurisdictions
MyTradePilot is offered from the United States and is intended for U.S. residents of legal age. We block live trading in jurisdictions where we cannot lawfully offer market-connected services. Users outside the U.S. are responsible for compliance with their local securities laws.
